Acupressure was originated in ancient China, an alternative medicine technique similar in principle to acupuncture.The goal of acupressure (Chinese Medicine treatments) is to encourage the movement of qi ("life energy") through the 14 channels (meridians) inside the body.
Chinese Medicine theory states that the constant flow of qi through these channels is essential for a person to keep healthy. If this energy flow is blocked, the body can no longer maintain the balance that is needed to deal with health issues.
In treatment, light pressure to gradually increased pressure is applied to acupuncture points. The intensity of the pressure may vary depending on the condition of an individual with the aim to stimulate and clear blockages in these meridians.
